I Have A Confession About Being Lazy...

Being lazy can be a very useful tool

Usually, I am the guy that tells people to stop being lazy.

Today is one of those rare days where I just feel down.

These are times that test if I walk the walk, and not just talk the talk.

Here's exactly what I did to get out of the slump.

1.) Tell myself that I can just do the minimum. Something so easy that I can't say no to.

2.) Walk over to my barbel.

3.) Do 1 single deadlift with very light weights.

The results... I ended up doing 5, and completed the rest of my workout at about 65% capacity.

That's still a lot better than 0%. Success in my book!

This little trick can be applied to so many things. I have done it countless times.

From creating artwork for my game business, to writing the first line of code on my next big project.

The things is, whatever you are trying to achieve in life is not going to be easy. At least not always. If it were always easy, it would not have been something worth reaching and likely have very low yield.

When a task, project, or any type of undertaking is on the horizon, it often feels too big to deal with so we just don’t do it. The reason is because we think of it as one super big problem! And big problems are intimidating.

Oftentimes, we just need to pause a moment and try to break things down into smaller problems to solve. This act of choosing not to work on the whole problem or task as a whole, is the first step of the problem that should be solved.

Once you identify the list of smaller problems, you can tell yourself to only work on that first small problem, nothing more. That usually kickstarts the whole process.

Next time you have a goal to achieve, whether it’s for work, or for personal reasons, give this a try! You’d be surprised how effective it is and how much you can achieve with this little trick, over and over again!
